2009 Chickenfoot Tour Dates, mp3s: Hagar, Satriani a “Supergroup”?

This might be the most annoying promo video ever made. It’s for a band called Chickenfoot.

Have you heard of Chickenfoot?

Chickenfoot is being billed as a new “supergroup” featuring ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, ex-VH bassist Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist-who-sued-Coldplay-for-plagiarism, Joe Satriani.

A guy who couldn’t upstage David Lee Roth and a guy so boring Coldplay might’ve swiped his song? Um, thanks…

As expected, Chickenfoot basically sounds like a middle-aged Van Halen cover band. The group’s self-titled debut album hits stores in June, if you’re curious, you can check out three free Chickenfoot mp3s.

We admit, when we first heard about this horribly-named band, we snickered to ourselves and sort of thought it was a joke.

Turns out, this band is some sort of a dream-come-true for fans of guitar magazines and rock radio. In fact, many of the band’s shows are already sold out. (But, the band should probably STOP calling fans Chickenheads.)

Stay up-do-date when new shows are added so you can score tickets before they sell out. Or not.

I have tickets for the Vancouver show. I would hope all the North American shows would be sold out since they’re just small clubs/theatres. Commodore Ballroom holds about 1000 people.

Sammy and Anthony are both in the Rock HOF - Royalty by any standard. Sammy is an amazing rocker, very energetic and willing to keep rock new, alive and vibrant. See him if you can…

As for the inference to Satriani suing coldplay - so what? Coldplay is a wanna be band, pretty much like all the rest of their age. Exception? Give a listen to “Bang Bang Bang”. Those Nashville boys can git ‘r done.

I for one will be cheering Sammy and the gang’s new music - ROCK on chickenfoot!

I think this band will do well on the classic rock stations . The new age rock stations area afraid ta play it as it blows away anything that they play now .hsas and whiter shade of pale was great . the young people of america just dont get it . no one plays any lead anymore . And joe is a hall of fame class guitarest . ask any player they will tell ya they WISH they could play that good .
