Tabloids are buzzing with news of Amy Winehouse’s impending divorce. The 25-year-old singer and her husband of less than two years are reportedly heading to untie the knot.
News of the divorce isn’t nearly as surprising as the news of the burn-out wedding was.
The troubled couple had only been married briefly before Blake Fielder-Civil landed behind bars on a stack of charges nearly as big and unruly as Winehouse’s beehive wig. Now that he’s free, he’s filing for divorce based on allegations of infidelity.
Fielder-Civil has recently made statements alluding to the fact that he was the one responsible for former singing star Winehouse’s druggy demise. However, we’d be shocked if he walked away from the marriage without causing some additional damage, to Winehouse’s bank account, at least.
With Paul McCartney’s recent divorce costing him nearly $38million, and Madonna’s split from Guy Ritchie racking up a rumored $76million tab, it’s easy to imagine that Fielder-Civil views divorcing a popstar as a goldmine. While Winehouse is certainly not as big as the Beatle or the Material Girl, he could make a killing. Hopefully, the judge is wise to his act by now.
