Another Star Discovered on YouTube

Labels, managers and aspiring artists are learning that YouTube continues to be the place to discover new musical talent.

Billy Mann, a songwriter who has penned hits for Jessica Simpson and Pink, traveled all the way to the tiny Dutch village of Oosterbeek to sign 18-year-old YouTube favorite Esmee Denters. Using an archaic webcam, she recorded karaoke videos that have been viewed more than 8 million times at the online video site.

Since that time Denters has been in the studio with Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland and is now also fielding TV offers. Sources say that the major labels are chomping at the bit to sign Denters, but the fledgling star says Mann might have other plans for her.

“We may decide not to sign with a label,” Denters says. “I’ve already accomplished so much on my own. We’d like to see what we can do with that.”

      Practice!
If you’re in school, join the choir or start your own band.
There are no rules for success : )
