Sure, we usually stick to music news around here, but this story was too weird to pass up.
Batman has been arrested! We always knew that having a grown man run around in tights and a cape would cause a police run-in sooner or later—we were just hoping that Hancock would be first on the list.
Joking aside, AP reports that Batman star Christian Bale is being questioned by British police and Scotland Yard after being accused of assaulting his mother and sister the night before the European premier of The Dark Night.
So far, authorities are remaining mum on the subject, as are Bale’s spokespeople. Maybe he’s upset over the death of co-star Heath Ledger? It must be difficult enduring all of the press questions about his death (not to mention all of Ledger’s Oscar buzz that has made Bale seem virtually invisible).
We hate to see good stars go bad. There’s really no happy way this story can end—if he did it, he’s a jerk. If his mom/sister made the story up, they’re jerks. The only happy resolution would be if it turned out this whole thing is bogus.
What does this story have to do with music? Well, nothing really. BUT Batman does have a really catchy themesong…plus there was that Prince song “Bat Dance,” so, actually, it does have something to do with music.
