Good news for garage-rock fans: the Oblivians are back together for a reunion tour!
Oh, and it gets even better: The Oblivians are playing with the newly reunited Gories (featuring Mick Collins of the Dirtbombs). It’s a double reunion tour!
This is the best day EVER.
These two groups have spawned more rowdy garage-punk bands than you can shake an out-of-tune Sears guitar at, so if you don’t already know ‘em, here’s your chance.

Rumors of this double-bill have been swirling for months, but the dates are now official, posted online by Jack Oblivian himself. Or by whoever runs his website for him. Either way.
Featuring a musical chairs-style rotating set-up of two guitarists and drummer, this trio mixes punk, garage and gospel in a way that is really almost impossible to describe, so just go listen to some Oblivians music courtesy of WFMU, instead.
Putting the tour together was no easy task for this busy bunch: Singer/guitarist Greg Oblivian is taking time off from the phenomenal Reigning Sound for the get together, Eric Oblivian is slipping out of his swell Goner Records music shop and Jack Oblivian is taking a rest from whatever his fine band is called this week (Tennessee Tearjerkers, Cool Jerks, Final Four, etc.)
We caught the boys at their last reunion bash in Chicago a couple of years back, and our ears are still ringing…in a good way.
