Beyonce Knowles said she intends to perform in Malaysia next month two years after she cancelled a concert there because of threatened spectator protest over her sexy clothes and demeanor, according to Associated Press report.
The R&B diva’s upcoming performance is already drawing criticism from conservative elements in a country in which women are required to be covered from shoulders to knees with no cleavage showing.
Knowles said on her Web site that she will take the stage at a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s biggest city, on October 25. “Beyonce for the first time ever has decided to make Malaysia part of her ‘I am.’ World Tour,” her Web site said.
Knowles canceled a planned concert two years ago following protest threats by Malaysia’s opposition Islamic party. At the time her talent agency said the show was called off due to a scheduling conflict, and the signer performed in Indonesia instead.
