Adam Lambert fans pay heed-one of the American Idol runner-up’s first post Idol endeavors will be a cut featured on the soundtrack to the apocalyptic movie “2012,” which hits theaters November 13, according to a report on RollingStone.com.
It was actually Queen guitarist Brian May who spilled the beans on Lambert in his blog. “I have to say I was completely blown away… it’s truly sensational,” May wrote after hearing the 2012 track. “In fact it’s so obviously a number one smash, any bookie would be mad to take bets on it.”
Lambert previously impressed May when the rocker performed with Queen during the Season Eight finale of American Idol. After the show, rumors began circulating that May would recruit Lambert to be Queen’s new vocalist after the exit of Paul Rodgers, but May put an end to the speculation, saying that choosing a new frontman would take time.
Lambert’s debut album is scheduled to come out in November as well.

Unless you have lived under a rock it is not just Brian May that has realized the extraordinary talent of Adam Lambert. His multi octave vocals are incredible. Adam has been praised by everyone from opera experts to Slash, Smokey Robinson, Quentin Tarantino and all the hottest producers in the music biz, Adam has that kind of talent and once-in-a-lifetime voice. Adam is ranked #2 in the best 100 technical rock vocalist, based various technical abilities. #1 Jackie Wilson, #2 Adam Lambert and #3 Freddie Mercury! Adam’s RS cover is #1 best selling of the year; Adam’s version of Mad World was featured in ABC’s new series, Flash Forward; this season 8 AI concert revenues (averages 88%) now surpasses last year’s because even in this economy Adam’s fans want to see him. Brian May is just one of many who realize that Adam is on his way to superstardom.

I think May is suitably impressed with Lambert based on all of May’s years of experience in the music field. Just because he hasn’t been a solo headliner in recent years doesn’t mean he’s not still involved in music and recording. How do you think he happened to hear the 2012 track anyway? It didn’t come to him in a dream - he was at a recording studio doing some other work with another band. A person can’t be a 20 year old with 30 years of experience, now can they? Music vixen, how many times does a person have to prove themselves before you would consider them to be “proven”?

What albums Brian May has made, or not made, recently seems irrelevant. He has known, and played guitar with, some of the most talented singers on the planet. If he doesn’t know new talent when he sees it, who would!
Also, when is the last time you heard any artist so obviously impressed by, and be so vocal about, a fellow artist’s work? Just asking…

The reason Brian May’s opinion IS very relevant and DOES say a lot is that he is Queen’s lead guitarist, who got to make music with legendary Freddie Mercury. Many people feel that Freddie has the best rock voice of all time- range, power, nuance, fluidity. No one has compared. Until. . . Adam Lambert. Adam is the first singer who Queen feels could come close to replacing Freddie, because Adam CAN hit those notes and Adam has such respect and awe for Freddie Mercury. Yeah, so to have such praise from Brian May is everything.

May also said Adam’s voice was one of the few male vocals that made him into jelly. Also May said he would love to work with Adam. Adam is a remarkable talent and it is so great that so many in the industry are recognizing how amazing Adam really is.

Brian May hasn’t made a decent album in decades because he never found the right frontman after Freddie Mercury died….it’s a shame.
Adam could be the “it” factor for their comeback, but he is young and just starting off……probably not a great idea to hook up with a senior citizen band from the 70’s - 80’s.
As a temporary thing, they could make a smokin’ album, no doubt. Adam has the pipes to do ANYTHING.

Brian’s opinion does not depend on how long ago he has made a decent album but on who he is with respect to his topic. And we all know Queen as one of the greats. And his remark is about ADAM as a rock singer, not about Pavarotti’s operatic genius. And may I add this about who he is:
BRIAN HAROLD MAY, CBE, PhD is an English musician and ASTROPHYSICIST most widely known as the lead guitarist and also a song writer of the rock band QUEEN and is currently the CHANCELLOR of Liverpool John Moores University.
He was made COMMANDER of the ORDER of the BRITISH EMPIRE in 2005 for “services to the music industry”. MAY was ranked 39th in Rolling Stone magazine list of the “100 GREATEST GUITARISTS of All Time”.

Vixen, what an ignorant thing to say, it’s so easy for some no brains to discredit a legends opinion because they havne’t produced something for a while, that doesn’t equate with all the knowlege and talent they still have. Hey, Queen was iconic and they lasted a long long time and know the biz and what it takes, so when they comment on new talent you better know that they know what they are talking about. What do you do?

I had no idea about Brian May’s impressive academic background. While Adam Lambert apparently made the decision to perform rather than sit in a college classroom, there is not doubt about his high intellect. He has a wisdom and honesty unusual for such a young man, and he has an excellent ability to express himself. Knowing more about Mr. May’s background only increases my interest in the upcoming Adam Lambert performances.

Brian May is one of the greatest guitarists of all time and he was blessed to witness true greatness in Freddie Mercury. He was part of one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Surely, he knows more about rock than any writer, blogger who can only wish for someone to notice them. Thanks Brian for recognizing great talent in Adam Lambert.

Is that something to ask? When he had not done album for a long time, it doesn’t mean May lose his talent to recognize a true artist in the field he was in for long years. Actually, for that long years, he was able to meet and heard lots of music artists. But he found one that really impressed him because of that unique high notes which only Adam can create. He was not the only one who said that. All the people in the industry are talking about it. Even Daughtry was amazed and had commented that Adam can reach the high notes that every singer is dreaming.

Brian May worked along side rock legend Freddie Mercury for many years. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since he’s had a successful album. He knows talent and what he said about Adam and his song is indeed high praise.

Thanks, Angel, for your comments. How could anyone fault Brian May? The man is a genius and the best guitarist I’ve ever heard. He has been on the rock scene for many years and has the wisdom to know who is good and who is not. I saw him in concert with Queen and Freddie Mercury and it was spectacular. Brian’s word is very powerful and heard around the world.

Not just any rock guitarist is he? I think Adam is an icon for a new age and it’s good to get a bit of validation from one who would know. Like him or don’t like him, Adam’s talent is not in question. I guess it takes one to know one. After all, this guy worked with Freddy Mercury, a man none of us can forget even though he’s been gone so long. Music has been kinda bland for a while. Time to shake it up!
Here’ to Freddie for all he gave us! Here’s to Adam for what’s yet to be.!

Where Adam is concerned I just can’t help thinking about the kind of parents he must have had. He has an ease about him that seems like somewhere along the way he felt accepted the way he is, sensitive, creative and gay. Many kids with these characteristics often find themselves having the want ads and blind dates with girls shoved at them and feel inadequate and unloved because they don’t want these things. His parents said that he liked to play dress up. And soccer…not so much. And they indulged him.
The results are amazing. Adam has the charisma of Elvis, not to mention the blue eyes, the vocal range and stage presence of Steven Tyler, the the drama and style of Freddy Mercury, the calculated quirkiness of Johnny Depp, all wrapped up in that irresistible boy next door charm, the sweetness of every mother’s son and a razor sharp edge. There’s a power and an originality that brings validation to everything he does: 100% pure Adam Lambert. It’s that having to stretch to describe his appeal that is the necessary mystery element that truly makes a star.
Makes me wonder how much better off we would all be if we felt accepted just the way we are!
