British Rocker in Trouble Over Nazi Anthem

VIDEO: Rock singer/troublemaker Pete Doherty manages to sink to a new low.

Of all the bad, idiotic things British burnout/musician Pete Doherty has done, this is the worst in recent memory. (Well, his paintings made with blood were pretty horrible, too.)

Toothpick-like model Kate Moss’s on/off boyfriend was reportedly dragged off stage over the weekend in Germany when he began singing a song that has been banned since the end of World War II: the national anthem of Nazi Germany, “Das Deutschlandlied,” NME reports.

We thought U2 building a wall in Berlin in order to celebrate the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was in bad taste, but this is much worse.

Then again, Doherty is a known drug abuser, so maybe this isn’t so surprising, really.

(Like the seemingly similarl- troubled Amy Winehouse, Doherty’s problems are well-known tabloid—and courtroom—fodder, but despite multiple arrests, he has yet to face any real consequences for his behavior.)

Doherty, who is scheduled to resume touring with his band Babyshambles this month, was forced to cancel shows in October because, as he told NME, he was on life support in a hospital due to a “stopped heart.”

Doherty, or his spokesperson, has since apologized for the song, noting that the singer has Jewish lineage and didn’t realize the song was controversial.

Also, the singer is a moron.
