Ok, so the judges actually said something like “the Idol contestant with the lowest number of votes is [insert loser's name here],” but, really, the point was clear.

This week, the 12 lucky contestants (and this season, for the most part, we do mean lucky, rather than talented) that made it to the top of the American Idol Season 9 showcase started being picked off.

The first big elimination of the season came after Tuesday night’s unfortunate round of Rolling Stones cover songs, most of which were almost bad enough to turn us into Beatles fans…almost.

VIDEO: American Idol’s Rolling Stones night massacre was almost enough to turn us into Beatles fans. Almost. (Kidding…sort of…maybe.)

Sorry, Keef, we still love ya, mate.

Unfortunately, last night’s episode of American Idol Season 9 featured an array of Rolling Stones covers scary enough to make us long for Season 7’s horrid Beatles night.

Thankfully, the show has yet to ruin the catalogs of Continue reading »

VIDEO: American Idol Season 9 Top 12 Contestants, revealed. A Season 9 favorite is sent home.

American Idol Season 9 might both the most boring and most shocking season of American Idol so far.

Musically, the show has been mostly dull, but a few singers have nonetheless been pegged as early favorites by judges and enthusiastic fans—particularly the singers who also play an instrument (Crystal Bowersox, Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott) or have a quirky persona (Siobhan Magnus).

However, Thursday’s elimination round was actually SHOCKING. Several of the contestants who had been predicted to make it to the Top 5—or possibly all the way to number one—have been cut.

One of the most surprising cuts was crowd favorite Lilly Scott Continue reading »

VIDEO: So, if you want to get voted off of American Idol, cover a Creed song and you’ll be sent home, instantly.

Wow, we have to say, we were actually happy with all four of the contestants who were cut and sent home on Thursday’s American Idol Season 9 results show. Crazy, right?

Of course, that may just be because so many of the singers were horrible—like, Creed cover song horrible—that we would’ve been happy to see any of them go home.

Do you agree with the eliminations this week?

We do! (Well, we’re not sure why Todrick is still onboard…)

So, who was kicked out of Hollywood this week?

Ok, first things first: After producers milked the “we don’t know if her doctors will let her perform” drama until a few minutes before the live show started, Crystal Bowersox was in fact back on American Idol on Wednesday. Her earlier, unspecified, medical emergency caused producers to switch performance nights for American Idol’s Top 10 Boys and Girls so that she could rest.

So how did Bowersox and the other nine ladies of American Idol Season 9 fare?

Better than the horrible guys, that’s for sure! Well, except for the Creed song (shudder).

The Top 10 American Idol boys weren’t supposed to perform until Wednesday, but after Crystal Bowersox fell ill, the producers decided to give the girls a day to rest by switching the boy/girl performance nights.

Although the switch doesn’t seem fair to us, we’re pretty sure that an extra 24 hours of practice wouldn’t have been enough to help the Top 10 guys.
