ABOVE: Miley Cyrus is no stranger to controversy, but now her duet partner, American Idol’s David Archuleta, is caught up in a scandal, too.
The father of last year’s American Idol runner-up, David Archuleta has pleaded no contest to using the services of a prostitute in a Salt Lake City suburb, according to an Associated Press report.
If the 47-year-old James Jeffrey Archuleta avoids repeating the crime by the end of this month, the charge will taken off his record, according to the AP.
A police sergeant said Archuleta was cited on January 14 at a Midvale, Utah, massage parlor. Police officers were investigating the establishment because of complaints from a nearby doctor’s office of scantily clad women on the premises.
Court records show Archuleta, who goes by Jeff, pleaded no contest on January 30. He also paid a $582 fine and completed a counseling class.
Throughout David Archuleta’s Idol run his father was accused of interfering with his performances, and generally angering the other contestants and their parents. David repeatedly stated that the allegations about his father were untrue.

I’m with Bella. David has never done anything wrong at all and deserves every success for his incredible talent and character. He spends most of his time it seems doing charity work which is pretty remarkable for a high school age kid. If anything, this “story” makes me want to support DA more.

david is not to blame, nor should the transgressions of his dad rub off on him. jeff archuleta, and he alone, should bear the shame and humiliation of disrespecting his wife and family. i don’t like the slant of this article at all - david has been caught up in nothing. place the blame where it lies - at the feet of his dad, and his dad only. his fans stand behind him, all the way. even more so.

this should not affect archie professionally in any way. the sins of the father are his own. jeff archuleta must reap what he has sown, not david. and any part of the media that attempts to drag david into his father’s mess is scum on a lower level than daddy arch. so yes, this article and the slant in my eyes are as lowdown and scummy as the elder archuleta.

This is not David’s scandal, it is his father’s.
Thanks for including the I Wanna Know You clip from the HM show. I am one of David’s older fans but I look forward to buying that track July 7 (release of Hannah Montana Soundtrack 3). They changed it a bit for the record but it’s still great.
