Ok, so this is just about the craziest thing ever–according to a report from the AP, the FBI has arrested a blogger for allegedly posting leaked tracks from Guns’n'Roses never-to-be-released (and who-cares-if-it-is) debacle, Chinese Democracy.
Seriously? The FBI doesn’t have anything better to do?! This is insane. The RIAA stuff is one thing, but the FBI? We’re not fans of anti-government tirades or crazy conspiracy theories, but even we think this is a little over-the-top.
27-year-old Kevin Cogill was arrested for allegedly posting (and removing) nine songs from the eternally unreleased album Chinese Democracy on his blog in June.
Of course, it doesn’t matter from a legal standpoint, but these songs are garbage anyway. This album is one of the biggest/most expensive mistakes in modern music history where in a washed-up ’80s hair-rocker got so high on his own ego that he couldn’t produce another mediocre album in time to cash in on the succcess of his last offering.
Then again, maybe we should be more careful what we complain about on this blog, after all, the FBI is watching.
What do you think?
Is arresting bloggers for posting music is fair?
Do you even want to hear this dumb album?
