In what seems like the dumbest PR move a singer can make, Michael Jackson has recruited controversial R&B star R.Kelly to perform on his charity single for America’s hurricane victims. It had initially been believed that Kelly, who is currently fighting child pornography charges, would not be able to perform on the single, which had initially been named “From The Bottom Of My Heart,” until Jackson altered and re-recorded it. Other stars who Jackson had mentioned that were joining him Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and Jay Z have yet to publicly confirm that they are participating on the track. Not only is R Kelly working on the new single, but reports from MTV news say that he is also acting as executive producer. Meanwhile, Jackson who was recording the track in London, is now finishing up laying down his vocals in Los Angeles.

Once upon a time when Michael Jackson invited you in on a project, artists were "there" in a heartbeat. Looks like Jackson doesn't have the pull he used to and adding R Kelly in on his track will only alienate other artists and fuel wise cracks that they apparently "both like "˜em young."
