ABOVE: At Bonnaroo 2009, Beastie Boys and special guest Nas debut  “Too Many Rappers” from the band’s upcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1.

Earlier this week, Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys posted a very personal video on YouTube announcing to fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

As a result, the band has decided to delay the release of its anticipated new album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1, as well as take a break from touring until Yauch’s doctors decide it is ok for him to return to work.

In addition to their own tour dates, the Beastie Boys were scheduled to perform at several summer festivals, including All Points West, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza 2009.

The organizers of those concerts have announced which performers will fill the Beasties’ headlining slots at those shows, with Jay-Z making his U.S. festival debut to fill in for the boys at All Points West in New Jersey 7/31 (tickets are still available, prices start at $89).

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will take BB’s headlining spot at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago (August7-9), while San Francisco’s Outside Lands (August 28-30) has yet to announce a replacement.

We think Jay-Z is probably a good sub for the Beasties, but Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Not so much.
