Jay-Z can say whatever he wants, but the facts speak for themselves. Jay-Z is out of retirement, and after signing his former nemesis (Nas) to Def Jam, he’s now put Nas’s album on the back burner in order to promote his own “comeback” album. Jay-Z’s slick move gives new meaning to the term “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
Amidst the firestorm of negative publicity, Jay-Z asserts that Nas is simply not ready. So far, Nas hasn’t made any public statements, but as an employee for Jay-Z, it may be in Nas’s best interests to keep his mouth shut.
Also, fans should keep in mind that Jay-Z didn’t get to the top by being wimpy and passive ““ Jay-Z is a master businessman. In 2004, when Def Jam offered Jay-Z $20-million to dump his former partner Damon Dash, Jay-Z rejected the proposal; however, because Jay-Z ultimately did abandon Dash, many have been given cause to wonder: was Jay just holding out for a better deal?
