Kris Allen’s self-titled debut CD hit shelves just six months after his loyal fans helped him become the eighth winner of American Idol, but it seems that listeners may have forgotten him already.

According to the latest sales charts, the newbie’s album couldn’t compete against ex-Idol Carrie Underwood’s third album, Play On.
Although Underwood’s disc was actually released almost a month ago, November 3, it easily outpaced Allen on the Billboard chart. Yahoo! reports that this is the lowest charting debut ever by an Idol winner and calls the sales figures a “stumble” on Allen’s part.
We think this kid just never had a chance; he’s a boring singer, with an album full of forgettable songs and a lame cover song that sounds exactly like the original.
We’re pretty sure America will forget this Idol faster than you can say “Soul Patrol.” (At least Taylor Hicks was silly, Allen is just stiff.)
Allen is also set to be overshadowed by runner-up Adam Lambert when sales figures for his controversial debut, For Your Entertainment, are released later this week.

Maybe Allen should take a cue from Lambert and try to be more controversial to make up for his boring songs? Um, maybe not.

@ Karen: Be real, if you like comparing CD, then I suggest you compare CD sales of Carrie Underwood 4 years ago, ranging $250,000 CD sales for the first week, and now it is 90K.
That a fact may I add? What am I tring to say, try to report something nice. Kris Alen CD is not boring, its a great music may I add. Music these days are overrated and unforgiveable. ACTUALLY if you want to quote facts here about Carrie get it right. Her first cd sold 350k in its first week and is certified 7x platinum (almost at
her second sold 527k in its first week and is 3x platinum and her third cd sold 318k in its first week. If you read correctly it was at 90k the week Allen released his album weeks after Carrie’s was released and it STILL sold more than him. I’m a kris fan dont get me wrong but at least be correct in what your saying, especially if you’re gonna call them “facts” Carrie runs circles around all other idols when it comes to album sales (with the exception of Kelly Clarkson who has has sold a little less than carrie even with 4 extra years and another album under her belt)

I like Kris Allen and I think you must remember Kris Allen was voted the American Idol season 8 by all of America. Adam is not the true star of Season 8, so that not correct. If Adam was the true star, why didnt America vote him to win? The antics of Adam makes him look like a media @@@ and every day there is more drama from him. Adams so called disgrace on the AMA Awards was so sad that they pimped Adam for the Finale and he screwed it up. I remember he fell over the steps and the song was stupid. Kris is not being pimped out like Adam is…Kris is a constant. He will prevail as the star and have the very normal career. By the way, I dont exactly think debut at #11 says failure. The only thing I know is that I love love love Kris Allen’s album. I play it all the time. And I say this as someone who didn’t even vote for Kris throughout the show, as I am a fan of Matt Giraud. I really started liking him after seeing him in concert. He was amazing. Then I went back and watched his performances on the show and found something remarkable about each of them. I love every second of this album. And it’s because I love Kris as a musician. So if you don’t like Kris as a musician, then what really is the point of insulting him? Just buy the musicians you most enjoy and leave it at that. I guess, I just don’t enjoy conflict. Anywho, I hope you all have a happy rest of your day.

I’m a Kris fan, and I hope that I am not a ridiculous one. I’ve got nothin’ against Adam, just the AI judges get on my nerves, but that’s my own issue. Anyway, I actually agree with you. I’m really disappointed that all these people who voted for Kris are not buying the CD. I know that I really like Kris’ CD and that’s all I can say. Adam Lambert in my humble opinion is very talented. And there were some nights on the show that I thought he was the best of the night. There were some nights on the show that I thought Kris Allen was the best of the night. I don’t know why it has to be all or nothing for some people. And I don’t know why people have to insult Adam just to feel better about Kris’ disappointing sales. Go buy his records and buy some for your family and friends and share the Kris joy instead of spreading negativity. We should start some sort of crusade sending out goodness to both Adam and Kris, and Matt G for that matter.

The record companies don’t care who won a title. They care about who makes the most money for them by selling cd’s, downloads and concert tickets. That’s who gets the contracts. That’s who gets promoted best. The facts speak for themselves with ALL artists. If it were MONEY you had invested in someone and you were looking at payoff, you’d be behind the artist that stood the better chance of bringing you in a big cash payout. Look at it that way to determine who the winner of anything is. Right now - ITS SUSAN BOYLE (who i am not a fan of)
