In a twist nobody saw coming, rapper Lil Wayne has managed to dodge the mandatory jail time demanded by his conviction on gun charges.

But, in order to stay out of jail, he has to stay somewhere many people might consider almost as scary: the dentist’s chair.
The Grammy-winning rapper was set to face sentencing in a New York court this afternoon, but last-minute news of the star’s need for dental surgery has postponed the sentencing until March 2, AP reports.
In October, Wayne pleaded guilty to charges related to his illegal possession of a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007. When sentenced in March, the27-year-old rapper will face up to eight years in prison.
