ABOVE: A young Michael Jackson sings, “Ben.” Surely, he could’ve never guess that decades later tickets to his funeral would move as quickly as tickets to his concerts.
Plans have been announced for Michael Jackson’s public Memorial to be held Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m. at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, the site of the superstar’s final rehearsals leading up to his anticipated comeback shows in London.
Tickets for the event have been in high demand among Jackson’s famously devoted (obsessed?) fans. Tickets for the free event were distributed over the weekend to fans whose names were selected at random after registering for the ticket lottery. In addition to the 11,000 tickets allotted for the Staples Center service, RollingStone.com reports that an additional 6,500 tickets have been released for the Nokia Theatre, where fans can view the service on a movie theatre screens.
Details of Tuesday’ public memorial were announced shortly after plans for an official public memorial event at Neverland failed to materialize. That event was reported to include a glass coffin to be driven through L.A. in a glass carriage.
For those unable to attend, much of the service will likely also be broadcast live by various broadcast and cable channels.
If that’s not enough, odds are, an exhaustive DVD tribute collection will be on store shelves before the body is actually buried.

I don't understand why people would want to attend Jackson's funeral. Were you this excited about your grandma's funeral? It's creepy.

Ben is such a beautiful song and it shows well what an extraordinary singer Michael Jackson originally was. Talents like this, you see once in a decade, if not less.
