After the headlines Miley Cyrus made when she posed mostly-nude for Vanity Fair at age 15-a questionable move for a sweet Disney princess-it’s hard to be shocked by anything the Hannah Montana star does.
Now 17, Cyrus has managed to throw fans for a loop again by coupling up with a 47-year-old rock star-thanks to an introduction by her mom.
Cyrus has confirmed her plan to team up for a duet with rock star known for his flowing blond hair. No, it’s not American Idol season 9 shampoo god Casey James; it’s ’80s glam rock star/Poison singer Bret Michaels.

Cyrus told People that she was excited to work with the Poison star because her first concert was a Bret Michaels concert with her mom. Cyrus already recorded a cover of Poison’s ballad “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” on her own, and now the two singers are teaming up to release a duet of a racy new Michaels-penned track, “Nothing To Lose.”
For those keeping track, “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” was originally released in 1988, which would’ve made Cyrus…not even born yet.
Initially, Michaels was known as the singer ’80s hair rockers Poison, famous for hits like “Nothin’ But a Good Time,” “Unskinny Bop” and the song that, according to Keanu Reeves’s 1991 flick Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey reveals the meaning of life, “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.”
However, in recent years, the singer’s music career seems to have gone the way of his famously fake hairline: out of sight. As a result, the glam rocker’s biggest claim to fame of late has been as the star of VH1’s gross and engrossing “reality” dating show Rock of Love.
Actually, considering the path Cyrus has been on lately (remember the stripper pole at the Teen Choice Awards?), it almost makes sense that she’d end up paired up with skank magnet Michaels. Actually, the most surprising part is that it’s for musical, not personal reasons.
