Talk about anticipation.
Singer/songwriter Carly Simon is set to play some concert dates in Europe early next year for the first time in her 38-year career, according to a Reuters report.
“I’m going to do what Elvis should have done,” Simon was quoted as saying, referring to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s noted failure to perform across the Atlantic.
The concert tour is being planned to support the upcoming release of Simon’s latest album, an acoustic set called Never Been Gone. Times and places are still to be worked out, but her performances will most likely be at small venues since Simon suffers from stage fright and said she prefers playing in places where she can see her audience.
Simon plans to make a host of television appearance to coincide with the album’s October 27 release date. Never Been Gone is coming out on her son Ben Taylor’s Iris Records label, and will offer freshly arranged versions of her greatest hits, as well as some new songs.
