News is out: Kelly Clarkson’s new single, “Already Gone,” is basically a cheap knock-off of Beyonce’s hit, “Halo.”
In her defense, Clarkson didn’t acutally write this song. That’s cool, she’s popstar not a singer-songwriter, we get it.
Still, if you’re going to rip-off a popular song, why not rip-off something by someone a little cooler than “Sasha Fierce“?
When Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus starts stealing riffs from AC/DC, let us know.
In an interview with Canada’s CBC radio, Clarkson reportedly blamed songwriter Ryan Tedder of OneRebublic fame for the song knock-off.
Over the weekend, Clarkson told radio listeners, “No one ’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’”
Clarkson claims that she’d never heard “Halo” prior the release of her album, All I Ever Wanted, and that she hadn’t heard the final version of her own “Already Gone” until the album was already finished.
An in-demand songwriter, Tedder has also written hit songs for everyone from newcomers Leona Lewis and Jordin Sparks to superstar Jennifer Lopez.
Kelly Clarkson supporters are probably doing the right thing by defending her-this mess isn’t really her fault-she’s a major label puppet, and doesn’t control any aspect of her albums, especially since bombing with her more personal effort, My December.

Tedder was snobby toward other singers who wanted to cover One Republic songs, he seems to have an attitude and think he’s better than everyone else so none of this news really surprises me. He probably figured he would just copy the music and make more money. Can Beyonce’s label sue him?
Why so many singers work with him is beyond me. Let’s hope they listen to what Kelly said and avoid him from now on.

Agreed!
His songs aren’t even very good.
Hopefully people will stop working with him–Maybe, they could even try to write their own songs!

Too bad this article is incorrect. Tedder worked with Kelly on her album BEFORE working with Beyonce. Therefore, Beyonce’s “halo” is technically the rip-off. The fact that Beyonce’s team rushed to get her song on the radio before Kelly is the sketchy part…

Wow, this story just keeps getting more twisted!
So, do you think one of these songs sounds better than the other?
Kelly is usually cool, but this song is kinda boring.

Even though I do not see any similarities except the drums, I think Kelly song is very beautiful and if you are into the occult then, you would love Beyonce’s song.
