It has been a while since we bothered to check in on Nine Inch Nails. After embarking on a farewell tour in 2009, there was a big NIN auction set up to sell off much of the retired band’s touring equipment and musical instruments.
After a period of inactivity comes a special message from NIN leader, and newlywed, Trent Reznor explaining that he’s been busy, “working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work.”
Um, boo hoo? Poor Trent, had to take a vacation from being a rockstar, must be tough.
Reznor goes on to explain that fans can look forward to, “new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn’t nine inch nails.” While he doesn’t go into details of the new project, Reznor sums up his official statement on the NIN website by stating that he is, “in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.”
We’re pretty sure that what he needs is a big paycheck and some adoration for his giant rock star ego, but we’ll tune in anyway—as long as he stops doing music for lame fox TV shows.
POLL: If Trent and Co. are back in the studio already, do you think a reunion tour is around the corner?

Wow, Trent came out of retirement even sooner than I thought he would.

This is retarded. He always said he was only retiring from touring.

Trent said that NIN is not done as a studio entity. He said NIN is done touring for the foreseeable future. If you had read any interviews with him last year or watched any of the live videos on YouTube, you would know that he stated this over and over.
Oh, and the songs that FOX News had been using were under Creative Commons. Apparently Trent may be looking at his legal options to keep FOX from using ANY of his material without his express consent.

NIN is NOT touring. They were ALWAYS going to just release records for now on. It was explained about a million times. No break up was EVER implied because you can’t break up a band consisting of one person.

Trent did not work with FOX but directly with the TV show since he refused to be paid for this song, this was just a tribute to a show he likes. So he did not sold his soul to the devil, but, once agin, made an artistic statement.

To the author: “Boo Hoo?”. I think you are a little slow in the head and way too fast too say something so wrong. When he said “Working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work” He obviously meant that it is hard for him not to be working on some form of music. I know it may sound like I am just a fan that is defending some very silly comment by a novice writer but it just drives me insane to see such an obvious misinterpretation of what someone said. So come on, please be a little more careful instead of making such an obvious mistake just to give yourself some stupid joke. Famous people always have their comments under a magnifying glass, the press should at the least be correct on what they are saying if they are going to scrutinize it or make some silly funny.
