The announcement came too late for Valentine’s Day, but news of a tour featuring Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails surely set aflutter the hearts of rock fans everywhere.
Nearly 18 years after calling it quits, the original line-up of Jane’s Addiction will reunite and tour with Nine Inch Nails. Jane’s Addiction originally broke-up following a tour with NIN in 1991.
Fittingly, NIN has announced plans to call it quits following the Jane’s Addiction reunion tour. NIN leader Trent Reznor wrote on his website that after the tour it will be, “time to make the band disappear for a while.”
Iconic alt-rock band Jane’s Addictions spawned countless imitators and won legions of fans with its eclectic, neo-psychedelic style of music. Lead singer/endearingly eccentric weirdo Perry Farrell founded the now-legendary Lollapalooza festival in 1991 (which inspired other fests such as Coachella and Bonnaroo). After Jane’s Addiction, guitarist Dave Navarro briefly joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers and participated in various reality TV ventures and a short-lived marriage to Carmen Elektra.
Nine Inch Nails rose from underground, industrial/goth/pop rabble-rousers to Grammy-winning music moguls thanks to founder Trent Reznor’s creative drive and knowing embrace of the internet. This year marks the 20th anniversary of NIN’s breakthrough album, Pretty Hate Machine.
After weeks of dropping odd hints and mysterious photos on his website, Reznor officially announced plans to tour with Jane’s Addiction via a post on his site on February 16. Tour dates have not been announced yet, but check back soon–we’ll post tour dates and ticket info as soon as it is available.
