ABOVE: American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen’s audition tape became an internet hit thanks to her angry words for judge Simon Cowell.

A man has been charged with drunken driving after a New Jersey car accident that killed a former American Idol reject whose angry tirade directed at the judges became an Internet phenomenon this past season, according to an Associated Press report.

According to the AP report, Daniel Bark appeared yesterday in state Superior Court on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Prosecutors said the charges had been upgraded to aggravated manslaughter and drunken driving

Defense attorney David Glassman said Bark and his family are distraught over the death of former American Idol singer Alexis Cohen, who was struck by Bark’s vehicle Saturday in the tiny shore town of Seaside Heights.

Cohen was a 25-year-old from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who became well-known after a video of her cursing the AI judges out for sending her home was circulated around the Internet.

I can't believe that people are still stupid and selfish enough to drive while intoxicated.
