The Guitar Hero video game has been a smash success among gamers and amateur rockstars everywhere.

Launched in 2005, Guitar Hero allows gamers to use a guitar-shaped controller to play along with popular songs, and score points based on how accurate their performances are.

Now the popular game series is hoping to get an even bigger boost thanks to some real guitar heroes: Aerosmith.

Activision, the company behind the popular Guitar Hero game series, has unveiled plans for a new edition of the game set to focus on the music of classic rock icons Aerosmith.

Formed in 1970, this Boston band rose to fame with the bluesy guitar riffs of lead guitarist Joe Perry and attention-grabbing singer Steven Tyler. Known for songs such as “Rag Doll” and “Walk this Way,” the rock band has managed to maintain its career for over three decades.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is due in stores this summer. According to Billboard, in addition to including approximately 30 songs by Aerosmith, the game will also include songs by some of the bands that have opened for Aerosmith over the years.

It'd be cooler to play along with the Rolling Stones or AC/DC, but as long as you don't have to dress like Aerosmith while you play, this might be fun"”hopefully nobody tries to sing along with Steven Tyler.
