VIDEO: Was Kanye’s VMA outburst the worst music moment of 2009?

There are plenty of musicians on the naughty list this year.

So, who deserves the biggest lump of coal?

Toby Keith and Kanye West are as offensive as ever, but our money is still on the nightmare known as Chris Brown.

So what did these guys do that was so awful in 2009—and are they really any worse than Lady Gaga or Adam Lambert? Keep reading.

Just when we started to think the most annoying thing Kanye West could do was simply continuing to release horrible, horrible albums, he goes and does something like this:

In an event that amounted to stealing candy from a baby, West notoriously stormed the stage at the 2009 MTV VMAs and interrupted 19-year-old country singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in order to declare that the award should’ve been given to Beyonce instead.

    Classy.

A half-hearted video apology followed. (A swift kick from Swift’s cowboy boots should’ve followed.)

So what did Beyonce  have to say about this? Don’t blame Kanye, “He was standing up for art.”

So, “Single Ladies” is what passes for art these days? Sweet.

    Toby Keith
While appearing at a concert in conjunction with the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize honors, country clod Toby Keith got his groove on during Will Smith’s version of “Rappers Delight.”Although that image alone is somewhat disturbing, the truly offensive part comes when Keith makes an offensive “slanty eye” hand gesture just as Smith utters a lyric about Asians (see video above, about :25 into the clip).

Miley Cyrus was attacked for a similar offense thanks to a leaked photo, as was the entire Spanish basketball team who posed for an offensive photo during the Olympics, in Beijing .

  3. 3
    Chris Brown
Do we really have to explain this one?In addition to being an overrated hack who can’t sing, Brown is a shameless perpetrator of domestic abuse.

This clown recently had the nerve to hit Twitter to complain that “im tired of this sh-t. major stores r blackballing my cd. not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers. what the f–k do i gotta do… … yeah i said it and i aint retracting s–t im not biting my tongue about s–t else… the industry can kiss my ass,” Reuters reports.

Um, “what do you gotta do,” Chris? How about stop being an abusive, untalented weasel, just for a start.

    Enough of this guy already!

Tell us what you think: Who is your least favorite artist of 2009?

Why on earth would anyone want to support these obnoxious artists? Would you buy music from performers, even if you thought they were jerks? Ugh!

Ridiculous viewpoint. Artists should be talked about for their art not how nice or friendly they are. The fact is a vast majority of great artist are/were total jackasses. Now, we just have the media to over embellish and remind us of that non-stop. Beethoven, Sinatra, B.B. King, and very many others are great artists in their own right. They had/have massive character flaws and a strong sense of self importance. I do not care though because their art was great. I would not desire to be their friend. People these days just want to listen to artist who seem infallible. If Hitler wrote a song it would be considered terrible, on the other hand if mother Teresa wrote that exact same song it would be considered better. Art is art this all too common biased based on how good I think they are viewpoint, is ignorant. We are all human just most of us do not have cameras to show our worst hours. You are either a fan of pop culture or music decide which one and do not claim the other.
