Kyp Malone may not be a household name, but he has attracted considerable acclaim for his work with Brooklyn’s TV on the Radio. Popular among scene types, the group also scored modest mainstream success with 2006’s Return to Cookie Mountain and the single, “Wolf Like Me” (video).
Now, Malone is setting out on his own with a new side project dubbed Rain Machine. TV on the Radio is set to go on hiatus for “about a year” according to an MTV interview with frontman Tunde Adebimpe . The band has been tour almost non-stop since the release of 2008’s Dear Science.
The new album is being released by the ANTI- record imprint, home to artists such as Tom Waits and Neko Case. Get a taste of Malone’s new sound with the Rain Machine mp3 below, then keep reading for complete 2009 Rain Machine Tour Dates and a strange, Trent Reznor-filled video from the band’s impressive catalog.
