In the ’80s, he was at the top of the rock heap thanks to his big hair, leather pants and MTV-friendly hits. These days, however, Axl Rose makes more headlines for his missteps than his music.

A statement on the Guns’n'Roses MySpace page indicates that, “Axl Rose, lead singer for the legendary rock group Guns N’ Roses, was unhurt last evening when he was accosted by an unruly group of paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).”
Rose was involved in the scuffle at Los Angeles International Airport as he was traveling to Taipei, Taiwan to begin touring in support of the much delayed and maligned latest effort by Guns’n'Roses, Chinese Democracy. Rose had reportedly intervened when a photographer began to interact with one of his female traveling companions.
The official statement continues that while Rose was passing through security, he was “approached by a group of unchecked and unruly photographers who became aggressive with the singer and female members of the traveling group.”
“Mr. Rose was not injured during the unprovoked attack and was able to board his flight without further incident. ”
Was this truly an “unprovoked attack” or was Rose being a temperamental rock star? TMZ reports that the paparazzo in the case was punched in the head by Rose during the fight.
More details are sure to emerge soon, Rolling Stone and TMZ report that the photographer has the incident on tape.
Guess no publicity is bad publicity, as they say—and it’s a lucky thing for Rose, since bad publicity seems to be the only type he gets these days.
