Quick! Someone call the police on Adam Lambert. No, not the fashion police, the real police-this kid is a thief!

On Tuesday’s country music themed episode of American Idol, resident flat-iron rocker Adam Lambert dished out an oddly Arabian version of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.”

The judges all went crazy over how weird and original Lambert’s interpretation was, but we can’t help thinking that it sounded suspiciously similar to the version of the song performed by Dilana on RockStar Supernova. (Yeah, we’re busting out the Supernova on you, deal with it.)

Check out the videos of Dilana’s 2006 performance and Adam’s performance from last night, then tell us if you think he copied his act from her. (Um, he TOTALLY did!)

We say ADAM LAMBERT is a THIEF!

I wonder where they both got the idea from??
Dilana did her version in 2007. I wonder what inspired her?

This version has been floating around the internet since 2002.

She an obscure artist but has been in the mainstream on and off singing
    for films and video games.
The whole purpose of doing an arrangement like this I’d assume is to showcase middle eastern singing in a western song. Its not just scales.
    Its a technique.

When he did his mentor session with Randy Travis he clearly stated that he was doing someone elses version of the song. AND on the Results show the next evening Randy Jackson also mentioned that it was another artist’s rendition. Please do not dish out blame without proper investigation.

Dilana was thrilled Adam did her rendition but threw in his own variations. BTW, listen to both of them…GEEZ. Get a grip

  5. [...] During Lambert’s acclaimed run on Idol, the eyelinered singer with a flair for the dramatic was a favorite among judges, but seemed to stir up some controversy due to his flamboyant image. (Photos of the singer in drag spread around the internet mid-season.) We’re pretty sure he’s guilty of some sort of performance plagiarism, too (decide for yourself, here). [...]

…don’t stop now, keep searching the web for ideas on how to discredit Lambert.
    BOTTOM-FEEDING BIGOTS!
Adam did credit Dilana when asked.
Any artist should feel fattered and proud to have their song performed by an artist who can do it justice. Smokey and Bono are perfectly fine with it.
Get of the man’s cock already….GEEES…it’s like the persecution of Jesus…

Adam Lambert has said in an interview that he was inspired by Dilana’s version. So, Adam has openly given her credit, and perhaps was indirectly defending this interpretation as a legitimate one. Simon Cowell had called the performance “self-indulgent rubbish.” Think Simon had his poppa hat on that day.
