Tyler Rejoins Aerosmith, For Now. Who Should Replace Him?

Although guitarist Joe Perry recently told the world that singer Steven Tyler had quit Aerosmith after 40 years, Tyler seems to disagree.

We’re not sure whether to be happy the band didn’t split up, or sad because they probably should’ve retired sooner.

Regardless of the group’s current state, it’s obvious that relations are strained within the band; Perry claims he and Tyler haven’t written a song together in a decade because Tyler prefers to hire hacks to write cheesy American Idol-worthy hits and power ballads.

So, maybe the band should have some new singers on tap replace Tyler if he eventually quits or falls off of another stage or something.

To be honest, we’re almost bummed that Tyler is sticking around, because we were really, really hoping his departure would inspire CBS to roll out Rock Star: Aerosmith as a follow-up to Rock Star: INXS and Rock Star: Supernova. We’re sure host Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers) is ready to go!

However, just in case there’s no Rock Star: Aerosmith in the works, we’ve put together some suggestions for singers who could replace Steven (and videos of several of them actually performing with Aerosmith!).

   Adam Lambert
   Glambert’s 2012 soundtrack power ballad, “Time for Miracles,” is grating enough to pass for one of Aerosmith’s Armageddon soundtrack cash-in ballads. Plus, he likes to wear eyeliner and silly clothes.

   Axl Rose
   Ok, let’s admit it, Axl: this whole Chinese Democracy thing didn’t pan out. Now what? Well, if you’re looking to team up with a shirtless, Les Paul-toting, non-Slash guitarist, Joe Perry might be just the guy you’re looking for.

   Mick Jagger
   Tyler may have Jagger’s lips, but he never quite had Mick’s…hmm…well, class isn’t really the right word…we’ll go with cool British accent and leave it at that. It’s a step up for Aerosmith, but a step down for Mick. Ok, just forget we mentioned this one…

   Josh Todd
   Buckcherry leader Josh Todd has all the right moves; he’s screechy, mildy annoying, stuck in the early ’80s, likes to wear scarves-give this guy a harmonica and we’re set!

   Kid Rock
   The Motor City motormouth has played with Aerosmith in the past, plus he can do the Run-DMC parts on “Walk This Way.” (He’s done it before…)
