ABOVE: Chris Brown finally apologizes publicly for assaulting Rihanna. Is it too little, too late?

In a surprising turn of events, Chris Brown has publicly apologized for his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year.

After entering a guilty plea in court as part of a plea deal  in June, Brown was issued a seemingly light sentence for the brutal attack: five years of probation and 180 days community service.

Following months of silence on the matter, except for a half-hearted apology letter issued in February, Brown has posted a video on his website in which he says, among other things, that he is sorry he didn’t handle the situation “differently and better” and that, until now, he thinks he’s done a good job living a life that would make those around him proud. He also says, he wanted to apologize publicly immediately after the incident and take full responsibility, but his attorney wouldn’t let him.

We’re not sure we believe that, since Brown originally entered a plea of not guilty in court in April.

Do you think Brown is being sincere?

Brown goes on to remind fans that he grew up around domestic violence, and should know better. To his credit, he does claim to be seeking continued treatment and guidance for his problems.

Let’s just hope Rihanna doesn’t fall for this guy twice.
