Kristy Lee Cook was eliminated from American Idol this week, but it wasn’t so bad: Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Andrew Dobner, proposed to her after the show.
The 24-year-old singer from Oregon had been the show’s Carrie Underwood-like country singer this season, before her performance during Mariah Carey week earned her the lowest number of votes, thus causing her to be eliminated.
Judge Simon Cowell wasn’t surprised by her elimination.
Usmagazine.com reports that Cook’s boyfriend had actually proposed to her a month earlier, but the pair decided to keep things quiet so she could focus on the show.
He then proposed again on Idol.
“He actually got down on his knee this time,” Cook said. “He owed it to me!”
The couple plans to officially tie the knot next June.
