Q: What’s the last thing you’d want to do if you were just injured a serious bus accident?
A. Take a cross-country bus trip from NY to California seems like a pretty good guess.
Unfortunately for Weezer leader Rivers Cuomo, that seems to be just what doctors have ordered for him following last week’s tour bus crash which injured the rock musician, his wife & daughter, nanny and personal assistant.
Due to the extent of Cuomo’s injuries, notably a punctured lung, doctors have advised him against air travel because of the dangers posed by the air pressure changes onboard.
Since cross-country train travel isn’t as convenient as it used to be, it sounds like Cuomo’s best bet is to hit the highway to head home to California.
Updates posted on Weezer’s official website state that the injured singer/guitarist hit the road in a new tour bus on Friday after being discharged from a NY hospital. Weezer’s webmaster reports that he and Cuomo will be riding home via a warm southerly route and relaxing with Mad Men DVDs and organic entrees.
Ah, the wild life of a rock star.
Of course, Cuomo probably could’ve just rested up on the east coast until it was safe for him to fly again.
The remainder of the 2009 Weezer Tour Dates in support of the group’s latest album, Raditude, have been canceled.
