Is Britney Spears’s new song “If You Seek Amy” really that dirty, or is the controversy the result of parents with particularly dirty minds and active imaginations?
Apparently, here at MV our minds aren’t in the gutter quite as much as the minds of the parents and youngsters who are currently in an uproar over Britney Spears’s latest hit song. This morning a group of concerned listeners even invaded Good Morning America to expose the song’s hidden meaning.
(Hint: If you say the title quickly, it sort of sounds like a dirty four-letter word. )
“If You Seek Amy” appears on the popstar’s latest album, Circus. Touted as the comeback album of this recently troubled performer, the song is raising eyebrows thanks to its sexually explicit meaning.
But, is it really that explicit?
Based on the fact that most of the people we’ve talked to didn’t understand what the fuss was about until they really thought about it and tried to figure out what the risque message was, we think most listeners wouldn’t have thought twice about the song, or its suggestive lyrics, if parents hadn’t started making a big deal about it being so naughty.
So, are these overly-sensitive parents making a big deal out of nothing?
Or was Spears looking for controversy/publicity when she recorded this song?

Clearly, Britney was just trying to get free publicity by releasing this lame song. Parents get upset over any stupid little thing!

You are right on…
- If a tree falls in the forrest, and no one hears it, does it make a sound?
- If it doesnt mean anything dirty to someone, is it really dirty?
