UPDATE: Chris Brown Sucks. Allegedly Punched, Bit, Threatened to Kill Rihanna

We hate to convict Chris Brown in the court of public opinion, but things just keep looking worse for Chris Brown with each passing minute.

New information detailed by E! and the Huffington Post here reports that “Kiss Kiss” singer Chris Brown made death threats against Rihanna during, or just prior to, the alleged assault that took place on Sunday when the two argued and Rihanna reportedly angered Brown further by throwing his car keys from the window.

Reports also state that while Rihanna initially refused medical treatment at the scene of the attack, the 20-year-old “Disturbia” singer did cooperate with police and allow officers to photograph the “horrific” injuries allegedly caused by Brown punching and biting her. It’s likely only a matter of time before the Rihanna attack photos are made public (or are leaked online, anyway).

Brown turned himself in to police Sunday, and was charged with making felony criminal threats. Apparently, they were death threats. A statement released to E! by Rihanna’s spokeswoman simply says that the singer is “well.”

Chris Brown, Rihanna Assault: Is Chris Brown’s Career Over?

After a day’s worth of speculation from various media outlets as to the identity of the victim in the Chris Brown assault case, police records now confirm that the victim was 19-year-old Brown’s girlfriend, 20-year-old pop-star Rihanna.

So, in addition to making some of the worst, most computer-manipulated and boring pop music in recent memory, Chris Brown is also a violent jerk? Nice. We’ve said it all along: Chris Brown sucks.

Just prior to Sunday night’s 2009 Grammys ceremony, Brown was arrested on charges of making felony criminal threats related to domestic abuse. Neither he, nor his girlfriend Rihanna, attended the awards ceremony, adding to rumors that the pop starlet was the victim.

With Rihanna now officially identified as the victim in this case, Rolling Stone quotes sources that call Rihanna’s injuries, “horrific.” The pop singer known for hit songs such as “S.O.S.”, “Umbrella”, “Disturbia” and “Shut Up and Drive” has now canceled her upcoming tourdates, with plans to reschedule at a later date.

While Mr. Brown is, of course, innocent until proven guilty, let’s hope that Rihanna has the sense to move on to a safer, happier relationship before it is too late. Famous or not, nobody should ever endure verbal or physical abuse.

Rockstar DUI: Star Gives Cop Credit Card Instead of License

Known for the hit song “Hungry Eyes” from the film Dirty Dancing, singer Eric Carmen was stopped by Ohio police on suspicion of DUI. According to a news report, Carmen mistakenly handed the cops his credit card when asked for his license.

Which doesn’t exactly seem like a sober mistake to us. Police stopped Carmen after he hit a fire hydrant, and reports state that he had alcohol in the car.

Prior to his ‘80s smashes “Hungry Eyes” and “All By Myself,” Carmen rose to fame with ‘70s power-pop outfit the Raspberries on the strength of songs such as “Go All the Way.”

Of course, Carmen is innocent until proven otherwise, but his alcohol level was reportedly nearly three times the legal limit and this is the second time he’s been nabbed for DUI. Let’s hope he learns his lesson. Maybe Patrick Swayze should have a talk with him before it’s too late.

Poison Rikki Rockett Arrest and Top Five Rockstar Crimes

AOL reports that 46-year-old Rikki Rockett, drummer for big-haired ’80s glam-metal band Poison, has been arrested at a L.A. airport on sexual assault charges from Mississippi.

Poison? The lamest, least-threatening band ever? That’s messed up. We’d expect this sort of thing from, I dunno, Motley Crue or something, but Poison? Weird. Poison frontman Bret Michaels has shown some bad judgment by starring in a skank-a-thon reality/dating show (Rock of Love), but at least he’s not a criminal.

Of course, Rockett isn’t the worst character in the music world.
So, today we’re taking a look at some famous musical criminals.

Yes, bad music should be a crime, but today we’re sticking with actual lawbreakers.

Top Rock Crimes and Scandals

Lead Belly—“Bourgeoisie Blues”
One of the most important figures in American folk and blues music, singer/guitarist Lead Belly (AKA Huddie William Ledbetter), was convicted of murdering a relative in 1918, and was accused of attempted homicide in 1930. Pretty tough stuff for a guy who made such nice music.

Chuck Berry—“Johnny B. Goode”
One of the pioneers of rock guitar, Chuck Berry was convicted of armed robbery (car theft) in 1944 and faced another scandal, and 5 years in prison, in 1959 after being implicated in a prostitution business. Maybe he should run for mayor of NY?

Phil Spector
This legendary music producer created his signature “wall-of-sound” recording style in the ‘60s and worked with groups like the Ronettes, Ike & Tina and the Beatles. Legendary tales of his erratic behavior include stories that he brandished a gun in the studio while working with artists such as John Lennon, Leonard Cohen and the Ramones. In 2003, he faced trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson.

Artimus Pyle of Lynryd Skynyrd—“Free Bird”
Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this creepy fella was arrested twice for failure to register as a sex offender, following his 1993 conviction on charges of sexual battery against two children ages 4 and 8.

And now, the scariest band ever:

Although not widely known in the U.S., this black metal outfit is probably the most feared band in its native Norway. Although many of the stories surrounding this band are merely urban legends, it is true that band members have been tangled up in a gruesome series of events including murder, suicide and possible cannibalism. In fact, one of the band’s album covers features a photo of the suicide scene. You can read the very gory details here and here, but you’ve been warned. They might be scary maniacs, but they do have a MySpace page with music. Then again, lots of people on myspace are probably scary…We’re just sayin’…
