Britney Spears Boyfriend Faces up to Seven Years in Prison

When Britney Spears was making headlines for her shaved head, mental health issues and assorted hospitalizations, one of the strangest figures in her life seemed to be her paparazzo boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib.

While Spears has embarked on a comeback and left Ghalib behind, her infamous ex is making headlines of his own, with Rolling Stone and TMZ reporting that he is facing up to seven years behind bars during his upcoming trial for with felony assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run and battery after allegedly attempting to run over a man serving him with legal papers.

Spears isn’t always commended for making good decisions, but leaving this guy behind was a smart move.

Perez Hilton Sues Black Eyed Peas Manager

Perez Hilton fought back yesterday by filing a civil lawsuit against the Black Eyed Peas manager accused of punching him outside a Toronto, Canada nightclub, according to an Associated Press report.

According to the AP report, the celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, sued the Peas’ road manager in Los Angeles for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages of more than $25,000.

Hilton claims in the suit, filed in Los Angeles, that he is trying to protect his First Amendment rights to free speech. He says that Peas road manager Polo Molina struck him after he got in a heated argument with the group’s frontman will.i.am. over critical comments that he had made about the Peas’ new album on his blog. Molina was arrested for the assault in Toronto on Monday.

The Black Eyed Peas’ latest album “The E.N.D,” has proved popular nevertheless, ranking number one on last week’s Billboard magazine’s charts for R&B/Hip-Hop albums.

Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Rihanna

Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in a Los Angeles court yesterday, in exchange for which he will not have to go to prison, but he will have to perform some heavy duty community service, according to an Associated Press report.

The two were also ordered to stay away from each other.

Brown’s plea to a felony charge will subject him to a great deal of scrutiny from probation officers who will oversee his picking up roadside trash and cleaning up graffiti, and he can forget about any reconciliation with Rihanna, according to the AP report.

The guilty plea came before a hearing in which Brown and Rihanna might have had a public faceoff, with Rihanna set to testify against her ex-beau. Instead, after Brown left the courtroom, Rihanna entered and had the stay-away order explained to her.

The total sentence for Brown was five years probation and 6-months of community service.

Rihanna, Chris Brown Seen at NBA Finals

R&B singer Chris Brown and former girlfriend Rihanna were among the stars in the crowd at the fourth game of the National Basketball Association Finals in Orlando, Florida, Thursday night, but they were not together, according to an Associated Press report.

According to the AP, Brown and Rihanna were sitting at opposite ends of the first row under the basket at the Amway Arena. Brown stands charged of assaulting Rihanna after a pre-Grammy party in February, and the case is still pending.

Brown’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22. At that time a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to justify continuing the case. Rihanna could be called as a witness during that hearing.

Other celebrities at the game included Tiger Woods and former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, who approached a startled Woods to say hello just prior to the game. Woods, it appeared, did not know who the towering figure was.

Phil Spector has always been an interesting, and terrifying character.

Initially known for his innovative work producing music by ’60s girl-groups like the Ronettes, and later remembered for his infamous incident pulling a gun on punk rockers the Ramones, Spector’s most recent turn in the spotlight has come courtesy of a murder trial.

In April, Spector was found guilty of shooting and killing actress Lana Clarkson in 2003, and was later sentenced to 19 years-to-life in prison. Clearly, this is no laughing matter, and we have nothing but sympathy for the victim and her family.

However, prison time means mugshots and, unfortunately for this eccentric, wig-loving beast, hairpieces are not allowed in the big house.

See 69-year-old Spector in his un-wigged horror in his mug shot photo, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Actually, we think he kinda looks the like butler from the Rocky Horror Picture Show…What do you think?

Pete Doherty Caught Doing Heroin on Flight

British singer Pete Doherty was fined by Swiss police for doing heroin during a flight from London on Friday, according to an Associated Press report.

The 30-year-old rocker was picked up by officers after the 1 hour, 40-minute British Airways flight landed in Geneva, and held for two hours, according to the AP. Doherty then paid an unspecified fine and was released.

Swiss police confirmed this account, but refused to address a report in a Swiss newspaper which said that Doherty was discovered by a stewardess collapsed in a toilet, with a used syringe nearby.

Doherty, lead singer of Babyshambles and former boyfriend of British model Kate Moss, has been known of late for his battles with drug abuse. He landed in a London prison for 29 days last year after being caught with crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis during a probation period.

Snoop Dogg Testifies in Civil Trial

Rapper Snoop Dogg told a jury yesterday that he didn’t belt a man suing him for millions of dollars with a brass-knuckle microphone during a skirmish at one of his 2005 concerts, according to an Associated Press report.

Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus) testified for over two hours in the civil trial, denying that he ever hit Richard Monroe Jr. and that he went back on his tour bus right after Monroe jumped on stage and was tackled by security men for fellow rapper The Game, who had shared the stage with Snoop.

Monroe testified that the rappers had invited fans to come onstage and that after being beaten he woke up backstage, naked in a pool of blood.

Monroe sued in 2006, alleging he was seriously injured after Broadus and members of his entourage and security detail struck him and poured alcohol on him during a performance of the hit “Gin and Juice.” He is suing for $22 million; a 12-person jury will decide whether he gets any money.

Japanese Pop Star Cleared of Indecency

A Japanese pop star was released today after being held overnight for allegedly being naked and drunk in a Tokyo park, according to an Associated Press report.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, a Japanese superstar from the group SMAP, was arrested Thursday after neighbors complained to police that there was a drunk man disrupting the peace in a park in an upscale Tokyo neighborhood.

Dozens of Japanese paparazzi congregated around the Harajuku police station where Kusanagi was held and questioned by police. His apartment was searched, but he was not charged with anything and a silver van carried him quickly away from the police station, its curtains tightly closed.

Public broadcaster NHK said prosecutors decided to release Kusanagi because there is no concern that he would flee or destroy evidence. The arrest has been the top news item in Japan, with major TV networks covering it nonstop.

Camouflaged Woman Spies on Britney Spears

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department yesterday arrested a camouflage-wearing, camera-toting woman they say was caught peeking into the windows of Britney Spears’ Calabasas home, according to an AP report. The 26-year-old woman, Miranda Tozier-Robbins, was issued a citation for trespassing and disorderly conduct and released.

The incident occurred hours before Spears was scheduled to perform the first of two shows this week in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old singer’s whereabouts at the time of the episode were unknown and a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department said it was unclear what Tozier-Robbins was up to.

Spears recently moved to Calabasas for privacy’s sake from a hilltop Los Angeles home that was constantly being staked out by paparazzi.
