Worst Song Lyrics of the Week by Flo Rida, Cyrus and More

Published February 25th, 2008 by Karen

Last week, we were inspired to take look at the worst country music lyrics of the week.

In fairness, country songs aren’t the only ones with bad lyrics.

Today, we’re taking a look at the worst pop song lyrics of the past week—but, be warned—these awful songs just might get stuck in your head.

Right now, we’re only dissecting stuff that’s popular at the moment, so odds are you’ve been hearing these tunes on the radio a lot lately. But how closely have you been listening? Let’s find out!

Worst Pop Song Lyrics of the Week

“Sorry”—Buckcherry
Fun Fact: This Guns’n’Roses-esque rock group named itself after Chuck Berry.
What’s it about?: Girls make Buckcherry sad. Aww.
Sample lyric: “And when I see you cry it makes me want to die. I’m sorry I’m bad, I’m sorry I’m blue, I’m sorry about all things I said to you.”
Why it’s bad: Cramming so many awful lyrical clichés into such a short song is quite an accomplishment, but rhyming “cry” with “die” is just plain lazy.

“See You Again”—Miley Cyrus
Fun Fact: Cyrus/Hannah Montana might be the most annoying 15-year-old in the world.
What’s it about?: Boy crazy teenage girl being too embarrassed to talk to a boy.
Sample Lyric: “I’ve got a way of knowing when something is right, I feel like I must of know you in another life.”
Why it’s bad: Cyrus obviously doesn’t write these songs, but the fact that the lyrics sound like lame pick-up lines that old dudes might use at a bar is creepy.

“Bubbly”—Colbie Calliat
Fun Fact: Calliat struck it big on MySpace. Plus, her father co-produced Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Tusk.
What’s it about?: Feeling all goofy because of love.
Sample Lyric: “Every time I see your bubbly face, I get the tingles in a silly place.”
Why it’s bad: Every time we hear this super-sweet song, we get nauseous tingles in our tummies.

“Low”—Flo Rida featuring T-Pain
Fun Fact: Our recent list of Worst Rapper Names featured Flo in one of the top spots.
What’s it about?: Dancing at a club with some, er, nice young ladies.
Sample Lyric: T-Pain “Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur, the whole club was looking at her”
Why it’s bad: Tight jeans and furry boots? Bleah. Next Flo will be singing the praises of sweat pants and Ugg boots. No thanks.

“Low”—Flo Rida featuring T-Pain
Fun Fact: This song’s so obnoxious and popular, that it made the list twice.
What’s it about?: Same as above. Girls at the club.
Sample Lyric: Flo Rida “Shawty was hot like a toaster. Sorry, but I had to fold, like a pornography poster.”
Why it’s bad: Actually, the sheer horribleness of T-Pain’s similes is almost charming. Almost.
