In an attempt to create some buzz around the show, last week the folks at American Idol made the shocking (really?) announcement that they would have a Top 13 group of contestants rather than the usual Top 12.
Meh.
In order to get back on schedule, last night the judges eliminated two contestants instead of just one.
Following Tuesday’s ill-advised night of Michael Jackson music, fan favorites such as Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Lil Rounds easily advanced to the next round of the competition.
The post-Michael Jackson night results weren’t quite as favorable for Mississippi’s Jasmine Murray and Puerto Rico’s Jorge Nunez, the pair were eliminated from the competition after receiving the lowest number of votes for their renditions of “I’ll Be There” and “Never can Say Goodbye,” respectively.
Personally, we would’ve booted Megan Joy Corkery based on her ultra-lame performance of “Rockin’ Robin.”
Eleven singers move forward. Hopefully, they never sing Michael Jackson songs again.
