Fresh from a somewhat prestigious three-song performance on Saturday Night Live, critically-acclaimed French electro-pop outfit Phoenix is dishing out another treat for fans: free downloads.

Right now, if you visit the Phoenix website, you can download a special multi-layer version of “1901″. So, if you’ve been itching to remix this track, here’s your chance!

Unlike other artists (Bob Dylan, Marilyn Manson) who’ve been giving away free music in exchange for your email address, Phoenix is sharing its sounds with no strings attached. Don’t you feel bad for making jokes about French people now? Yeah, you should.
