Reunion? Stone Temple Pilots 2009 Tour Dates Cancelled

Published November 19th, 2009 by Karen

Do STP fans want an album of new songs, or just a tour filled with hits?

Stone Temple Pilots fans were thrilled to see these ’90s rockers back in action over the summer, but now it looks like things are coming to an unexpected halt on the tour track as the group is cancelling scheduled dates in order to Continue reading »

Stone Temple Pilots Reunion Tour Dates,Guns n Roses Reunion Buzz

Published April 2nd, 2008 by Karen

The success of rock band Velvet Revolver is little surprise considering the fact that 3/5 of the band is iconic band Guns’n’Roses (guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum), guitarist Dave Kushner and sometimes Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland. However, regardless of their popularity, the band has fired Weiland. AOL/Reuters reports the split is a reaction to his erratic behavior and continued legal and substance abuse issues.

While this is bad news for Velvet Revolver fans, it means that guitar hero Slash and the boys could finally reunite Guns’n’Roses.

Of course, that’s probably not too likely considering the unfriendly terms between the Velvet Revolver guys and Guns’n’Roses main man Axl Rose. The Axl and the band parted ways during the making of the still-unfinished Chinese Democracy—a record that’s been in production for nearly 17 years!

In the meantime, Weiland has reunited with his Stone Temple Pilots bandmates with plans for a tour this summer. (We’ll post the dates as soon as they’re announced.)

Of course, Velvet Revolver was probably doomed from the start. In addition to having one of the worst band names ever, it’s odd that Weiland teamed up with Guns’n’Roses members, considering the fact that the grunge explosion of the ”90s is largely responsible for the death of heavy metal and G’n'R.

When STP emerged in the ‘90s, they were initially dismissed by critics as grunge hangers-on, mere imposters aping the moves of bands such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Nirvana. Well, they certainly have managed to hang on for a long time.

But they still stink. Wake us up if Axl calls.

Why Guns’n’Roses Rules:
Guns’n’Roses—“Welcome to the Jungle” (video)
Coolest lyric: “You’re in the jungle, baby. You’re gonna die!”

Why Stone Temple Pilots Suck:
Stone Temple Pilots—“Sex Type Thing” (video)
There is nothing good about this ridiculous date-rape anthem.
Stone Temple Pilots—“Vaseline” (video)
Stupidest lyric: “One time a thing occurred to me.”
