Activision has confirmed that Guitar Hero: Van Halen is currently in development, and scheduled for release at some point in the second half of this year, according to a report on RollingStone.com

According to the report, the legendary rock outfit joins Metallica and Aerosmith as groups that have received “pixilated” treatment from the Guitar Hero franchise. So far, the Beatles are the only group to get their own branded Rock Band title.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen will include “greatest hits,” as well as tracks from guest bands Queen, Weezer, Blink-182, Queens of the Stone Age and the Offspring, according to RollingStone.com.

Quelling the concerns of longtime Van Halen fans, Activision has also confirmed that the game will include an avatar of David Lee Roth. “This is definitely Van Halen, not Van Hagar,” an Activision official was quoted as saying.

2009 Chickenfoot Tour Dates, mp3s: Hagar, Satriani a “Supergroup”?

Published April 24th, 2009 by Karen

This might be the most annoying promo video ever made. It’s for a band called Chickenfoot.

Have you heard of Chickenfoot?

Chickenfoot is being billed as a new “supergroup” featuring ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, ex-VH bassist Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist-who-sued-Coldplay-for-plagiarism, Joe Satriani.

A guy who couldn’t upstage David Lee Roth and a guy so boring Coldplay might’ve swiped his song? Um, thanks…

As expected, Chickenfoot basically sounds like a middle-aged Van Halen cover band. The group’s self-titled debut album hits stores in June, if you’re curious, you can check out three free Chickenfoot mp3s.

Beyonce Sucks Even if Howard Stern Tape is a Hoax

Published April 24th, 2009 by Karen

Ok, so apparently there has been some buzz going around because Howard Stern aired tape that was allegedly a recording of Beyonce’s vocals from her performance of “If I Were a Boy” on the Today show last year. The tape was supposed to prove that the “Single Ladies” singer lip synchs during her “live” performances.

The vocals on the tape are horrible, cracking and struggling in vain to stay in tune.
(Unlike Beyonce’s usual vocals, which are over-sung, over-produced and melodramatic.)

However, Beyonce fans can relax, because now it is being reported that the whole thing was a hoax and the tape was created by a blogger.

However, we have to wonder why so many people were so eager to believe this story.

Was it because people like to see stars screw up?

Or was it because many listeners are getting tired of her boring pop songs and were sort of relieved that this might finally put an end to her reign over the airwaves?

We think it’s the latter. What do you think?

Fortunately, the tape of David Lee Roth’s hilariously awful “Running with the Devil” soundboard vocals is not a hoax. If you haven’t heard it yet, go now.
